I started playing league cricket at the age of 14 at Liskeard in Cornwall. My first season in the Devon league was for Babbacombe in 1994, the year I got married.
I had two further seasons at Liskeard then I moved to Torquay permanently in 1997. I have played the majority of my cricket here for Babbacombe with two seasons at Ipplepen.
The fact I started my cricket career in Cornwall always adds a bit more interest from me for the fixture against them and ironically my debut for the Over 50’s in 2021 was against Cornwall.
My goals for the season are for improved availability so we can play enjoyable and competitive cricket, then see where that leads us!

The 50s 2s team wore Hawaiian shirts after their match v Somerset at Bradninch CC, as a mark of respect and to say thank you to scorer Chris Dean for all the work he has done for us. Chris has scored almost every game for the last few years, a well loved character whose dress sense is legendary. Ironically today, at his home ground, he wore a plain black polo shirt…
Skipper Ian Hayter gave a speech and presented Chris with a gift of Chris’ favourite - Thatchers.
